Overview

Nikola Marinov Art Gallery is a city art gallery in Targovishte. It was established in 1959 as an art department at the Historical Museum in the city. Since 1981, the gallery is housed in a separate building. It has 3000 m2 of exhibition area.

The art gallery is a co-organizer of an international plein air for watercolor. The gallery has a collection of foreign and Bulgarian watercolor artists.

The fund of the Nikola Marinov Art Gallery consists of 3240 paintings, graphics and sculptures, as nearly 1000 of the paintings are watercolors. It is the only gallery in the country specialized in collecting, storing and exhibiting watercolors and has the largest and most valuable collection. Includes works from the genres of painting, graphics, sculpture and applied art. The gallery has 1851 works of painting, 786 works of graphics, 199 works of sculpture, 10 - applied art.

The greatest interest is the work of the famous master of watercolor Prof. Nikola Marinov, of whom the gallery owns 79 works.

The famous masters of painting are also present in the exhibitions: Dechko Uzunov, Svetlin Rusev, Zlatyo Boyadzhiev, Naiden Petkov, the graphics of Prof. Rumen Skorchev, Prof. Stoyan Stoyanov and many other contemporary Bulgarian artists.
