Church of St. George stone church

Overview

In the center of the village of Gabarevo rises the majestic building of the church "St. George the Victorious ”. The temple was completed and consecrated in 1895 after four restoration and completion.
According to the church's annals, there was a small church dug into the ground on the site of the present altar. Later, in 1834, a larger temple was built with donations from local people. This is evidenced by a metal seal with the image of St. George the Victorious. In this form the church lasted until 1877, when it was burned down by the Turkish troops together with the whole village. After the Liberation, along with the restoration of the houses, the church was rebuilt, which lasted until 1885. The fourth restoration and expansion of the church, the interior and completion, painting, construction of the bell tower was completed in 1895. Masters from Tryavna build it with stone masonry. In this church in 1944 Father Hristo Nyagolov hid the books from the Chitalishte library and protected them from burning.
