n May 9, the Bread House celebrates its patron saint's day, dedicated to the saint whose name it bears - St. Christopher.
Within the framework of the project for strengthening the Bread Houses Bulgaria Network, the International Council of Amateur Centers, funded by the Charles Stuart Mott Foundation, launched the creation of Bread Houses, modeled on Gabrovo in more than 15 cities in Bulgaria, to work. in a network and to become new cultural and social points of unity, following the model of the Bulgarian Community centers.
The Gabrovo Bread House was an occasion to register the community center "St. St. Damascene and Onufriy Gabrovski ”, as an act of continuity, sustainability and modernization of the model of the Bulgarian amateur centers - the community centers, without claiming to shift the focus from their main function and activity! The National Chitalishte is established in the Bread House. It has more than 170 members.
In some places the Bread Houses are physical spaces with an oven, a round table and regular events in which people of different ages, sex, ethnicity and social status take part. Elsewhere, the Bread House is the name of a program, part of cultural or social centers, the activities of which are therapeutic in nature, etc. Bread therapy, belonging to Art therapy.
In Gabrovo, the Social Enterprise Hlebna kashta - bread oven, which prepares artisan bread with yeast, which will involve young people without parents, graduates of the National High School of Tourism "Pencho Semov" in Gabrovo
The main mission that all Bread Houses follow is to create conditions and environment for people to unite, to share time and ideas and to discover together the good and the positive in life, in themselves, in the other. The remedy used by bakeries is a simple dough made from flour, yeast, salt and water. Before baking and making bread, the people involved in the kneading interpret it into shapes, invent fairy tale plots - imaginary or real situations, create music from kitchen utensils or paint in flour. All this is the spirit of collective creativity, creating positive emotion and joy in all people involved or watching the process.
For the last two years, the methods of work of the Bread Houses have proven to be a successful way to integrate (social inclusion) of disadvantaged people and a new way to relieve daily stress, without this being tied to joining a closed group by criterion or the payment of mandatory cash fees.
