Halkata city of Sliven

Overview

The quartz rock formation "Halkata" is a typical representative of the interesting and beautiful rock forms in the nature park "Sinite kamani". It is the result of the destructive action of atmospheric factors - the sun, wind, water. The height of the Ring is more than 8 meters. One can easily pass through its opening with a height of about 2 meters.

The ring is one of the symbols of the city of Sliven, attracting with the uniqueness of the arched wreath over the glowing opening, with the legends about its magical power, influencing the most intimate thing - Love; for the splashed sea, the struggle of the sailors with the sea element and she, the Ring the lifeboat; for the adoption of a new image.

An old legend says that in prehistoric times this place was a sheltered harbor on a stormy sea and ships were tied to a rock with a hole. The ring was salvation and the hope that they would not sink. The Ring is credited with magical powers to bestow health and life. Legend has it that the forbidden love of a girl and a boy became possible when the two held hands and at the same time passed through the opening of the ring.

Folklore warns of another dangerous belief - if a man passes through the ring from north to south and does not return, magic will change his gender or image.

The Halkata rock formation is relatively easy to reach - in about half an hour on foot from the lower stop of the lift. The path winds smoothly through the loose forest by the stream. After about 20 minutes. the path turns right, crosses the river and climbs to the Ring.

The Halkata rock formation has recently become part of the 100 National Tourist Sites. Anyone who wants to get a stamp from the "Ring" can do so at the lower lift station.
