Historical Museum Klisura city
Overview
The Historical Museum in Klisura is among the Hundred National Tourist Sites of Bulgaria and the center of the cultural and educational life of the city for decades.
It is housed in the memorial building "Chitalishte monument-museum", built on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the April Uprising and opened on May 2, 1926. Funds for its construction have been collected for 30 years from the grateful resources and their fellow citizens scattered throughout Bulgaria.
The museum has an art collection of works by famous Bulgarian artists, including Zlatyu Boyadzhiev, Nenko Balkanski, Dechko Uzunov, Hristo Stanchev, Dimitar Kirov and others.
Among the most valuable exhibits in the museum's exposition is the preserved original bell, which announces the beginning of the April Uprising in the fateful April 20, 1876 - two hours after the announcement of the uprising in Koprivshtitsa. The pride of the museum is the preserved authentic cannon made from cherry tree.
The historical museum also includes the famous ones:
Pavurdjieva house. It is built in the typical Renaissance style; combines rose production with ethnography and history. The first secret revolutionary committee for the Fourth Revolutionary District, based in Plovdiv, was established in the house. In the yard of the house is the only surviving rosary.
Kozinarova house. It was home to the Kozinarovi family. In her yard, the well was restored, in which on the day of the suppression of the April Uprising the mother Tsana (Anna) threw herself together with her 4 minor children to avoid the desecration by the Turks.
Chervenakova house. The first house restored after the burning of the city, where the Russian liberators were welcomed. On the first floor there is an authentic shop from the beginning of the XX century. The Potato Museum is located in the house.
