History Museum, Ihtiman
Overview
The History Museum of the town of Ihtiman was opened in 1951 in the house of the prominent writer Gyoncho Belev, where the first exposition was created, collecting the ethnographic richness of the Ihtiman region. In the 1960s, the museum was profiled as a museum of the history of capitalism and the revolutionary labor movement. It was moved to the city center, where an exposition corresponding to the profile of the museum was opened. Over the years, the museum collections have been enriched and expanded. In 1970, the museum moved to a new building specially built for the purpose. A new exposition was opened then and an ethnographic exhibition was added, on the first floor.
