"Shipka 6" Gallery (The building of the Union of Artists)
Overview
Shipka 6 Gallery is one of the exhibition buildings of the Union of Bulgarian Artists. It has three exhibition halls on the first floor and one hall on the second floor.
The building is interesting, its architecture is modernist. According to experts, the construction technology was unique for this time, for the first time applied in Bulgaria. Construction began in 1970. The official opening of the gallery was in 1972.
Despite the different trends in politics, the gallery retains its leading position in the culture not only in the capital but throughout the country. Over the years, it has become an important factor in the cultural and artistic life of the capital. It is also the largest exhibition area in the country. Artists from all over the world have had exhibitions here. The building regularly hosts new and varied exhibitions. A number of symposia and art meetings are held.
