Futyova cave Letnitsa

Overview

Another cave on the territory of the charming Devetashko plateau, accessible only by speleologists or tourists with a guide and the necessary equipment, is Futyova cave.

Unlike most precipices in the area, it is horizontal. It is located 3 km from the village of Karpachevo, but if you want to be sure that you will not miss it, you should take a local with you to show it to you, because the entrance is barely noticeable.

The penetration into the cave bowels starts from the central hall with a length of about 50 meters, after which the cave splits into two arms. According to the local cavers, if you follow one of them you will reach the village of Chavdartsi.

Legend has it that the local bey attributed all his lands to his farmer Futyo when he had to flee the country. Futyo became rich once, but could not bear so much and sold most of his property. He hid the property from the sale in the cave that bears his name today.

However, the treasure was never discovered…
