Manuili Eco-trail
Overview
A very unusual, but curious and instructive leitmotif has been chosen in the Stara Planina town of Apriltsi as one of the eco-trails in its land. The very name of the route "Manuili - Interview with Arthropods" arouses people's interest and rightly so.
The main goal set by the creators of the route is perhaps the fundamental task of our time - to make visitors to their region and of course the locals to slow down and look at the little things around us.
With a very good mood and concrete examples, specially trained guides will acquaint tourists with the life and diversity of insects, their amazing qualities and the indispensable role they play in maintaining the fragile balance that sustains life on Earth as we know it. Many questions will be asked: Did you thank the arthropods today ?; Why should we pay attention to beetles, spiders and other arthropods that roam our homes ?; Do we really live in the Age of Insects?
The answers to these and many other questions will be found by nature lovers who walk the pleasant and relatively short route of the eco-trail "Manuili - Interview with arthropods".
A number of information boards present little-known but very curious and respectful facts about insects and other arthropods. You will be provoked to bend down and look for beetles, ants, spiders and others almost invisible in our increasingly sterile modern life.
In just a few minutes you will be amazed at how much life there is literally in one hand in the woods and meadows. You will be amazed at how complicated the life of these animals is, which we traditionally consider to be extremely primitive. To provoke your attention, let's mention just two facts: more than one and a half million species of arthropods are known, and more than a thousand new ones are discovered every year. Impressive, isn't it?
Leaving the arthropods aside for a moment, the Manuilovo neighborhood is part of the Ostrets neighborhood of the town of Apriltsi. It is located outside the settlement and the transition to it is particularly picturesque, although it is relatively short and not very difficult. The route is both close to civilization, passing through natural landmarks and educational. Perfect place to take your kids, right?
