Overview

The fountain "Elia" (Syutliyka) is a small spring of drinking water, the spout of which literally comes out of an authentic Roman sarcophagus (dated 160-180 AD). On the sarcophagus is carved a Latin inscription in the form of a lyrical work - an epitaph, expressing. But here the story does not end, but only becomes even more intertwined and interesting. The coffin somehow managed to be preserved in its entirety over the centuries, and during the Ottoman rule the sarcophagus was liked and later used to build a fountain, which in the Muslim faith carries the charge of a sacred place. The Turks use the stone for its new purpose and give the fountain its name - Syutliyka (milk water, good water, Turkish note).
