Aida - village of Spahievo
Overview
Mechkovets is one of the northern hills of the Eastern Rhodopes, also known as Aidaa or Aida, literally from the Turkish Bear Mountain.
From the north the hill rests in the Upper Thracian lowland, from the east is the Haskovo hilly region, from the south through the saddle Kitka and the river Borovitsa the hills Mechkovets and Dragoyna are separated from the rest of the Rhodopes, to the west the valley of Banska river separates Mechkovets from Dragoyna.
Aida Peak is 860 m high and is located about 20 km west of the town of Haskovo and near the village of Gorno Bryastovo.
At the very top there is a telecommunication base, but a little below it is the place Mechi skali, where there is a very nice gazebo.
It is from there that an extremely beautiful view opens up. There are many interesting rocks and a cave in the area. Shortly before the top there is a hut with a capacity of 35 seats, suitable for rest and sleeping, and before the hut there are several other picturesque places, as well as Thracian grape squeezers.
