Elin Pelin

Elin Pelin is a town in Western Bulgaria, administrative center of Elin Pelin Municipality in Sofia Region. Its population is about 7,430 people .The traditional name of the settlement is Novoseltsi, written in some Ottoman registers as Nuvossel. Since 1950 it is named after the writer Elin Pelin, who grew up in the nearby village of Baylovo. Often in everyday life, the inhabitants of the city and the surrounding villages call it simply Pelino, and themselves – pelinchane.
