Overview

The only place in Pleven that has preserved to some extent the architecture of the Revival is the so-called Revival complex. It is located in the very center of the city, on the sides of the Old Main. The complex consists of three restored houses from the first half of the XIX century - Bakardzhieva house, Dacheva house and Parvanova house. It reveals elements of the central architecture of the city with a natural transition from its modern look to the Revival spirit.

Despite the original idea, now Pleven residents and guests of the city instead of immersing themselves in history with museum exhibits, enjoy the authentic atmosphere and traditional Bulgarian cuisine in the taverns of the complex. The place is worth a visit, even for just a grape salad with Shopska salad. Especially if you know at least a little about his story.

The construction of the Revival complex in Pleven started in 1974. The houses are exact copies of the homes of the people of Pleven preserved at that time in other parts of the city, so the experts say that they "brought" them here. The only preserved original Revival house in Pleven belongs to the famous Revival activist Angel Mravkov and it is she who inspired the creation of the whole complex.

Angel Mravkov's house was originally a museum, which showed the exhibition Urban life from the Renaissance. The upper floor was furnished with furniture and objects that represent the atmosphere in the home of a traditional urban family from the nineteenth and early twentieth century. An exhibition of wine accessories was arranged in the basement, as Mravkov was also involved in the wine trade. In the house of Kosta Zlatarev one could see an exposition with personal belongings, and in the lower part of the building there were goldsmith's studios.
