Church of St. George city of Mezdra

Overview

The church was built in the period 1930-1932 according to the project of arch. Petar Dogramadjiev. The foundation stone of the church was laid on August 19 (Transfiguration) 1930, and its consecration was performed on May 8 (Tomina Sunday) 1932 by Vratsa Metropolitan Paisius in the presence of the Minister of Education Konstantin Muraviev. The main donors for the erection of the church are the heirs of the industrialist Todor Balabanov - his son Ivan, his wife Elena and daughter Zorka. The accent in its interior are the icons from the so-called royal order, which were painted by the great Bulgarian artist Prof. Dechko Uzunov.
