Izgoryaloto Gyune Reserve

Overview

"Izgoryaloto Gyune" is a reserve in the Batak Mountains. The reserve is located on the land of the town of Krichim and has an area of ​​nearly 29.5 hectares. It was originally announced under a forest management project in 1987.

It was declared a reserve by decree of the Council of Ministers No. 5334 / 16.08.1949. On December 30, 1956, its area was reduced by order of the General Directorate of Forestry. It has been re-categorized as a maintained reserve by order no. RD-363 / 15.10.1999 of the Ministry of Environment and Water. The area of ​​the reserve is 29.30 hectares. The reserve was declared in order to preserve and maintain the second most important natural locality of the juniper tree (Juniperus excelsa).

About 400 species of plants have been found in the reserve, which is a significant number for such a small area. . skorpilii), Balkan evening primrose (Hesperis theophrasti).

This reserve preserves the only locality of juniper in the Rhodopes.
