Cave Snezhanka

Overview

Snezhanka is a cave located in the Batak Mountains in the Western Rhodopes and is located 5 km from the town of Peshtera. It was opened on January 3, 1961. from a group of climbers. An eco trail with a length of about 800 m leads to the entrance of the beautiful cave, where you can see some of the most beautiful glacial forms. The cave is 145 m long. Its temperature is 8 ° С. It is among the 7 largest landscaped caves in Bulgaria. There are over 600,000 stalactites and it is called an underground palace. There are several halls in it: the "Udder Hall", the "Great Hall", the "Music Hall", connected with the "Collapse", over which a bridge passes. In the "Magic Hall" nature has created a figurine resembling the fairytale heroine "Snow White", which gives the idea of ​​Prof. Alexi Petrov from BAS for the name of the cave. In terms of its splendor and beauty, it is ranked among the 4 most beautiful Bulgarian caves - Magurata, Lednika and Saeva Dupka. In 1979, Snezhanka was declared a natural landmark. It is visited annually by over 10,000 people.
