Overview

The Pantheon of the National Revival is a national ossuary monument located in the city of Ruse.

It was designed by architect Nikola Nikolov and was opened on February 28, 1978. 39 famous Bulgarians are buried in it, including Lyuben Karavelov, Zahari Stoyanov, Stefan Karadja, Panayot Hitov, Baba Tonka, Nikola Obretenov, Panayot Volov, Angel Kanchev and others.

453 people were honored - participants in the Botev detachment, the Chervenovod insurgent detachment, the April uprising and volunteers, whose names are written inside. In the middle, under the gilded dome, an eternal fire was burning, which was extinguished after the fall of the regime of Todor Zhivkov.

For the construction of the Pantheon in 1977, the Church "All Saints" in the old Ruse cemetery was demolished. After extensive discussion in 2001, the Pantheon was "Christianized" by placing a cross on its dome, and the chapel of St. Paisii Hilendarski ”, as well as a museum exposition.

The Pantheon is among the 100 national tourist sites. It is open for visitors on February 28, 1978.
