EAGLE'S NEST
Overview
At 300 m above the river Iskar, on a small terraced rock protrusion of the Black Wall, landed a small wooden house. Colored in red and visible from a distance, it is an alpine shelter "Eagle's Nest", which can be reached only "by rope". It is fastened by steel beams and ropes and is known to thousands of people who look for it in the distance.
The shelter was built in 1938 after a historic climb on the northeastern wall of Malyovitsa by climbers from the Bulgarian Alpine Club - Kotse Savadjiev, Georgi Stoimenov, Georgi Tsenev and Todor Bozhkov. Turned into an emblem of the Lakatnik rocks, the shelter reveals a beautiful panorama of Lakatnik and the Iskar gorge.
In 2000, the shelter was completely renovated at the initiative of local climbers from the Mountain Rescue Service in Lakatnik Station, dozens of tourists and residents of the village.
