The lion - the village of Benkovski

Overview

It is located northwest of the village of Benkovski, in the direction of the village of Kitna, on the left, before the bridge over the river Varbitsa. It is best seen from the bridge itself (or at its end), looking in the opposite direction. There is a metal bunker in front of the figure. This is a rock form, which as a result of external earth forces - water, sun and wind, has acquired a bizarre shape, reminiscent of a reclining lion (lioness). It is sculpted in coarse sandstone. It was declared a protected site in 1982.
