Overview

The cultural route under the project "Atrium - Architecture of the Totalitarian Regimes of the 20th Century" has been approved by the Council of Europe. Dimitrovgrad has been part of this project since 2011, and it includes 18 other countries from Southeast Europe. Its aim is to attract tourists to explore the architecture of the former socialist countries. Part of the Atrium project in Dimitrovgrad are the central city alley Bulgaria Blvd. and Maritsa Park, the architectural complex near the Hristo Botev Chitalishte on Treti Mart Blvd. and Penyo Penev Park. The approved cultural route and certificate will be defended every three years before the Council of Europe, explained Jeni Alexandrova, part of the Atrium project team.
