Overview

Wet zone "Kisimovi dupki" is located in the area "Maistorov gyol" in the land of the village of Belozem.
In the past there was a natural oak forest in the area. In the 50s of the last century, the whole area was totally deforested for the needs of agriculture. Later, the site was used for the extraction of clay, sand and gravel, thus the reservoir was expanded. Today's name of the reservoir - "Kisimovi dupki", dates back to the middle of last century.

The total area of the site is about 80,000 sq.m. The water area is about 24,000 sq.m. with a depth of up to 2.50 m. The coastline is about 1400 m long. The bottom has a varied relief formed by excavations in the past. The coastal vegetation is mainly of rush and reeds.

In 2003, afforestation with various tree species began. As a result of this activity, favorable conditions are created on the site for the formation of habitats of various moisture-loving plant and animal species. In order to preserve the existing biological diversity, the inflow of water into the reservoir has a year-round and continuous water exchange. The water level is kept constant within the necessary limits. The main inflow of water is from the river Martvitsa.

The reservoir is home to various species of fish that are subject to sport fishing. There is no commercial or commercial fishing. The site is privately owned and is under 24-hour security and video surveillance.
