The Vladimir Dimitrov - The Master Art Gallery is located in Kyustendil, 20 Patriarch Evtimiy Street. It is among the Hundred National Tourist Sites of Bulgaria. On August 6, 1944 in the Ahmed Bey Mosque in Kyustendil on the initiative of Dragan Lozenski, Kiril Tsonev and Dr. Georgi Efremov on the basis of a collection of 50 works by Vladimir Dimitrov - the Master opened a museum collection and art gallery. On May 24, 1959, a separate City Art Gallery was opened. It is located in the building of the former Jewish synagogue. The fund contains 152 paintings by 18 Kyustendil artists. The gallery collects, preserves and exhibits the works of Kyustendil and other prominent artists. In 1971 the jubilee exhibition of n.h. Nikola Mirchev. On November 24, 1972, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the birth of Vladimir Dimitrov - the Master, the new building of the gallery was opened (Author team: architect M. Mineva, eng. A. Conforti, eng. G. Daskalov, eng. Zhelev, architect Sl. Vassilev). The interior is completely subordinated to the idea of ​​creating a suitable environment for the Master's paintings. It radiates the same simplicity and harmony as the canvases exhibited on the clean wall panels of the halls. The spaces are designed on levels connected by the general natural ceiling lighting of the ceiling and providing a circular line of movement. Each level has the possibility of a separate exhibition space. The gallery has a 245 m. Exhibition area and air conditioning. Her collection in 1984 numbered 2368 paintings. The gallery periodically opens: the art exhibitions "Kyustendil Spring" and "Struma", as well as a number of guest, personal, anniversary and other exhibitions. Preserves and periodically arranges exhibitions of other prominent Kyustendil artists such as Stoyan Venev, Moritz Benzionov, Nikola Mirchev, Asen Vasiliev and others. Since its inception, 506 exhibitions have been realized, both authorial and group. Artists from Kyustendil, the country, as well as prestigious exhibitions of prominent European and world cultural centers and institutes exhibit their works in the gallery. In 1980 the author's team of arch. M. Mineva, eng. Vl. Marchinkov, eng. G. Daskalov, eng. V. Nikolova and S. Makedonski developed a project for expansion of the gallery, and in 1981 the construction and installation works began, which were completed only after 2000. The gallery has the main and largest collection of works by Vladimir Dimitrov - The Master, arranged in a permanent exhibition. Today the gallery has 3180 works by 585 authors, of which 1357 paintings are the patron of the gallery Vladimir Dimitrov - the Master.
