Historical Museum in the town of Peshtera

Overview

The museum was established as a municipal cultural institution in 1995 on the basis of the local museum collection exhibited in 1969. The fund is not large - about 8000 exhibits, of which the most valuable are the materials from Prehistory. The main exposition consists of five halls located in an old house in the city center. The structure of the museum, in addition to the main exposition, includes two museum collections - ethnic group of armuni and the one in the village of Radilovo, and two archaeological sites - the fortress "Peristera" and the settlement mound in the area of ​​the village of Kapitan Dimitrievo. The prehistoric settlement mound is of extremely high value in terms of the identification of important processes from the Neolithic and Bronze Ages. The fortress "Peristera" is well socialized and is attractive for tourists and connoisseurs of the Middle Ages.
