Overview

In the not so distant 2008 the first of its kind in Bulgaria Sand Sculpture Festival welcomed its first visitors, and in a short time became a favorite event not only for citizens of Burgas, but also for guests of the city during the summer season. The place has always been the same - Ezero Park, next to the Horse Base, but all the resources with which the festival is built every year, is gaining more and more scale over the years.

The preparation process itself begins much earlier than the traditional opening in early July. The terrain is prepared, the sand is sifted and the tireless work of the sculptors begins - artists who breathe life into their creations. Each subsequent edition of the festival manages to embody so much emotion and spirit with its overall new vision and proves that over the years its popularity is growing. And all this could not be a fact without tireless work, talent and heart, which is invested in the production of over 250 compositions by sculptors from four continents Europe, North America, Asia, Australia. Authors from Bulgaria, the USA, Portugal, Indonesia, England, Australia, Germany, Ukraine, Turkey, Russia, Slovakia, Poland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Belgium, Latvia, France, Norway and Italy were part of the festival. With their creativity and broken vision of a plot, they manage not only to create but also to bring everyone who visits the Sand City in a unique fairytale atmosphere, which is always impressive and interesting for the audience.

On an area of five acres, from special, rain-resistant 5,600 tons of sand every year appeared all sorts of characters, bizarre creatures, castles, towers, all kinds of sea (and not only) inhabitants, mermaids, pirates, carriages, princesses, animals and other fairy creatures, some of them over 8 meters tall.
