Ethnographic complex "Tower"
Overview
Ethnographic complex "Tower" - Kazanlak is part of the Historical Museum "Iskra". Its location is not accidental - it is located in the oldest district of the city, where there are buildings that have preserved their traditional appearance. Kazanlak as a small town has a kind of urban culture, located in a unique nature. This is an architecture that respects local traditions, respects the low number of storeys and specific architectural details on the facades, which have become a local trademark.
In 1976 in two of the restored houses are arranged ethnographic expositions from the Historical Museum.
One house was built in the early nineteenth century and is a typical sub-Balkan architecture - one-story, asymmetrical. There are two rooms - "houses" (kitchen) and a room - used as a living room and bedroom. An agricultural shed has been restored in her yard, in which the usual inventory for primitive land cultivation is arranged.
The second restored house at that time belonged to the prominent Kazanlak public figure, merchant and donor Ivan Hadjienov. As an architectural design, this house is not similar in the city. The house is two-storey, asymmetrical, with an open veranda and a corner.
The exposition of the Ethnographic Complex "The Tower" presents the home coziness of the citizen of Kazanlak at that time, his new self-confidence and attitude to the world.
Tourists always associate Kazanlak with the Valley of Roses, and now with the Thracian kings. Visitors to the Ethnographic Complex are offered additional attractions - presentation of rosary, testing of essential oils, tasting of culinary products from oil-bearing rose, puppet folklore show.
Also in the Ethnographic Complex "Tower" visitors have the opportunity to buy rose oil, various products of the oil-bearing rose, cosmetics, rose liqueur, gyul brandy and handmade souvenirs related to the life and culture of rose growers.
