Holy Spring Saints Constantine and Helena, village of Brodilovo

Overview

The holy spring with the main place “St. Constantine ”(St. St. Constantine and Elena) is located about 2 km northwest of the village of Brodilovo. It is located on the northern slope of a valley, near the Lozyata area.

As in every village in Strandzha, so here, the cult of St. Constantine is held in high esteem. The worship of this saint occupies a central place in the fire-dancing ritual. On the feast of St. St. Constantine and Helena (on May 21) from the center of the village starts a fire dancers procession, led by the icon of the saint, going to the holy spring "St. Constantine ”, where the icon is placed on the table (wooden iconostasis). During the years of socialism this custom was not practiced in Brodilovo, but recently it has been revived. Until recently, the road to the spring was completely obliterated and overgrown, but local people took the initiative and cleared it.
