Astronomical Observatory Avren village

Overview

In Avren there is a basic astronomical observatory, attached to the NAOP "Nicolaus Copernicus" - Varna, furnished and modernized in 2005. In 2006, an educational alley "Road to the Stars" was built under a project of the IA PHARE. The observatory conducts regular observations by various astronomical clubs. The Avren Observatory is the only one in Bulgaria where training observations are carried out systematically. Objects from the solar system are studied - the Sun, the Moon, the planets; deep space is observed - star clusters, nebulae and galaxies; the activity of meteor showers or the changing brightness of some stars is monitored. The place was chosen because of the highest altitude in the area.
