Architectural and historical reserve - village Katunishte
Overview
The village of Katunishte is located at the lower valley of the Neykovska River shortly before its confluence with Kotelshnitsa / on its way to Luda Kamchia /. The village folds on a sunny southern slope above the river and its houses keep the charm and atmosphere of the little known but in its own way attractive villages of Bulgaria.
Everything in Katunishte has been preserved in its authentic form since the Renaissance. All 130 houses have been declared architectural monuments. Preserving the authentic architecture of the Kamchiyska house, the village has the status of an architectural reserve since 1989. The foundations of the houses are made of massive stone walls, and the top is covered with wood, which curves into beautiful verandas. Narrow cobbled streets wind between the houses, in front of the town hall is preserved the old village fountain. Several voivodes were born here, among whom the most called was Kara Thanas (1780 - 1860), whose birthplace you can see on the main road in the village by the river. Narrow cobbled streets wind between the houses and remind of the spirit of the past, and in front of the town hall is preserved the old fountain, where you can drink a sip of cool water. The Holy Trinity Church is also located in the courtyard of the town hall, but unfortunately due to the small number of permanent residents, it opens its doors only on holidays.
Here in 1976 the film "Daughter-in-law" by G. Karaslavov was shot.
